Hey,

I just fit the above headunit in my MR2. Man the old one was a pig to take out!! Whatever was wrong with a slide in slide out factory unit?!

Anyway, with this headunit, I've refitted everything and you can see a bit of metal around the edges, of course the front plate that comes with the headunit is just a bezel and basically the finish isn't ideal. It's like the whole thing should sit an inch further into the dash (although that might look silly also..)

Anyone else had this issue fitting aftermarket double DIN headunits ?

There's not a lot of room behind there, have you checked for the cables / wires stopping it from going all the way in?

The point is it's all the way in (bolts are all done up where they should be) and you can see the sides of the headunit once it's in place. After some thought I'm thinking an Abflug or knock off Rexypow centre console might fox things.

I installed this exact head unit into mine this weekend, and found the same thing, but have ordered a fascia adapter by Autoleads.

My understanding is that it will widen the head unit to the same width as the standard, and then allow me to use the standard surround to allow it to look flush, but until they arrive, I'm not sure.

So I got hold of some of those Autoleads facia adapters.

They didn't fit my facelift as they pressed against brackets. So I chopped the rear half off (don't see it affecting things as there are still 3 bolt holes left) and it fits ok.

The standard stereo surround however does not *clip* into place, however after wedging it in, it doesn't move (unless you touch it)... I might have a go at making a new bracket so that it's a bit more sturdy. But for purposes of pictures it now looks fine.

Also ran the mic so it sits above my left knee whilst driving and points through the steering wheel toward me, apparently voice quality is fine whilst using it as hands free and I didn't need to take out any trim to fit it (ran the wire over the headunit and through the gap in the trim).

Did you sort out the facia bracket around your double din headunit? I've fitted a headunit, got the side adaptors arriving tomorrow, but like you am struggling to get the facia re-fitted.
