Took my wife's MR2 in on Friday to get their opinion on the currently wayward handling and the usual front end clonking.

Customer service was excellent, took me to and back from work and there was no charge for the diagnosis.

But I was handed a quote for the work which seemed steep.

Full wheel alignment            132.91
Top mounts
Parts                                  103.16
Labour                                132.91
VAT                                     64.57
Total                                  433.55

The top mounts estimate may be fair but the alignment cost seems steep. Your thoughts?

That does seem excessive; after I had my mounts changed I got a local garage to do the alignment for about £30.

Full Wheel Alignment should cost approx £45 - £50, it's all laser, so not much work, just adjustment.

As for the other stuff, not sure... isn't it still under warranty for the top mounts ?

...But can typically cost as much as £70 or even £80, and if you need parts like crash bolts to adjust the settings, they charge for those too.

Out of warranty when we bought it unfortunately, but then I thought Toyotas were reliable. My Alfa 156 has been good as gold in comparison.

So has anyone had the alignment done by Mr T in the last couple of months?
