What seats are out there?

My seats are tatty and look plain awful. So are needing a refurb or a swap at some point. I don't really like the PFL seats, I much prefer the FL ones with the holes in.

That got me thinking, what other seats could I put in?

Not a bucket seat or racing seat, it needs to be mildly comfortable and look relatively nice and definitely cannot weigh more than standard seats!!

I'm not a big fan of the S2000 seats that I've seen in a few, and i'm not sure of the weight of them, but they look heavier.

Do Elise seats fit? They look nice. Even some MX5 seats look quite good but I don't know if they fit either, I suspect I'm not helping much....
Silver 2004 MR2 -  Unmodified but very shiny.

Many use the latest generation celica seats. They are plug and play.

Ive heard good things about celica seats.
The jury is out on s2000 seats. Look great in the Honda not convinced for a 2.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I've been wondering if there are any alternatives that come in a more interesting range of colours. I'd quite like to redo my interior with a dark green trim but seats are the most expensive part and the hardest to DIY.

Celica seats are nice and more comfy than roadster ones. Easy to fit you just have to swap the seat rails over. There's a pick of them fitted to mine in my profile/garage.

Top tip, while you've got them out fit a heated seat kit too  s;) ;) s;)
My only car is a Ducati

The Celica seats appear to be a couple of kg heavier. Not that's it's much but I was hoping for lighter ones  s;) ;) s;)
Sorry  Dave but the s2000 look to bulky and take up too much room in a 2  s;) ;) s;)  do you know how much they weigh?

Something like these I think would look great in the car!!

Are you crazy.  They probably are heavier than stock ones but they don't take up too much room and those Cobra's just look cheap.

Jrichards20

#9
Yes definitely crazy!! But I like what I like  s;) ;) s;)

I don't think the Cobras look cheap, more of a sport classic  s;) ;) s;)  but I didn't mean specifically them, but something similar, so small and lightweight, with reasonable padding, can be a little more uncomfortable than stock but look a bit sporty.  s:) :) s:)

Can't beat standard FL seats for a daily driver, IMO. Wouldn't it lose the ability to flip the seat forward and access the rear bins of you put something else in?

I like the look of the lotus seats, but afraid they might loose make it too track orientated.

Not worried about the rear bins, they will be going anyway. I did like the FL seats that where done in leather and alcanatara. I wonder how much a decent reupholstery costs?

Really comfy but sit a bit low for me (short arse!). As you know I also have an S2000 but think the seats are pretty poor.

Forgot about those seats Lee.
Really like them.

Have to agree cobra seats look cheapo.
Josh you told me the lotus seats were really uncomfortable why would you consider fitting them in the 2?

They look good! Not sure about the colour. But style is very nice!

I don't know Scott! I'm like a lost sheep at the moment! Don't know what I want right now! I'm getting torn between comfort and cruising and lightening the car up for better handling and speed! I need to sit down and think it all through  s:( :( s:(

They aren't that green in reality. Gives me the option of fitting any recaro recliner now be it from an Evo, Civic, Integra however they are pricy so went cheap with Accord Type R ones.

If you are not comfortable then you won't be spending much time driving to tracks or much time on said tracks!

Surely if you wanted it seriously track biased you should of stuck with the elise?
Coming back to the MR2 it should be more about comfort and drivability.
Again you are going V6 so taking drivability over ultimate power.

So if I went shopping for used seats, is there a reliable way to tell which would be a good fit other than seeing if anyone else has used the same ones already?

Has anybody fitted these type of seats?
