I have a 01 MR2 and I have been having alot of problems with water leaking into the car. At first it started leaking into both luggage compartments so I cleaned both drains. I then noticed that the carpet under both seats and now in the diver's side footwell is also soaking wet. The cleaning of the drains seemed to stop the water coming into the passenger's side luggage compartment but the carpet under the seat is still getting wet. The driver's side luggage compartment is still filling with water and also the carpet remains wet. I have had a good look around the car but can't see where the water is getting in. Has anyone else had a similar problem or does anyone have any ideas as to where the water may be getting in???

Any help will be most appreciated.

Just a wild guess, but there's this flap near the top drains that can block the drain if its strap comes loose. It's not the easiest place to check, but you can see there when standing outside the car and lowering the roof a bit.

About how to find the leaks, use a garden hose to run water on the car. One place at a time and take note when it gets in the car and start looking closer at that area. Have a friend use the hose and get in the car yourself. Probably makes it easier if you remove the seat(s) and carpet...
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

Thanks very much for the reply. It's funny you should say that actually. I have had another look today and noticed that on the driver's side (that has the worst leak) there is a flap of material on the inside of the roof near the drain that velcros on to a strap of material. This has come loose altogether but I am struggling to get it back on again. I assume this is what you are talking about??

Thanks again

Yeah, that sounds like the piece I mean. I couldn't figure out where it should be and I had mine fixed under warranty, so I can't help you to reconnect it, sorry  s:? :? s:?

OK will give it a try. Maybe it'll be easier to go down the local toyota garage and get it fixed.

Thanks very much
