As a previous owner of an Alfa 145 Colverleaf i am missing the induction bark while driving my MR2. I have been looking at changing either the exhaust, air filter or both in persuit of a more sporting tone and an therefore after advise as to what would best meet my requirements. I do not want the noise to be overpowing though as i travel approx 20K per year.

Thanks in advance.

If you want more induction noise there are severa things you can do, that i'm sure other can cover in more detial, these are:

Replace the standard air intake system with an induction kit, creating more noise (potentially a little more power/mid-low respons) but subject to heat soak.

Replace the standard panel filter with a sports one, TRD, etc and maybe remove or replace the air feed pipe, both of these will increase the induction sound.

Replacement of the exhaust, i can recommend the TTE or Postert as good options with out adding too much noise, the TTE being slightly louder. There are a few other options for this, but can't comment on them i'm afraid.

Hope this helps and gets you going  s:) :) s:)

The TRD filter adds a little noise, but not a terrific amount. It is reckoned about 1 or 2BHP extra power.

If after you have done your thinking and searching you reckon on a H&S Exhaust, add your name to the Twin Exhaust post in Appearance related since it looks like a GB is coming. I do believe H&S can "customise" to get the sound you want since they build to order.

Where abouts in Yorkshire are you? I'm in Doncaster and can take you out in mine. I have both the A'pexi CAI and TTE twin exhaust. Great noise combo when warm and booting it, but civilised when pootling along.  s:D :D s:D

Any excuse for a beer.....  s:wink:  s:wink:

if you're going for another air filter, you won't increase the noise that much. I went for the PPE air intake (some will say CAI, I won't argue) with an Apex'i air filter and the Dieamond special: aluminium chimney pipe from that PPE marvel to the wing air intake...

noise: perfect (from not much more to racing, depending on the charge you put to the engine)  s8) 8) s8)
power: nice (noticable on my SMT with more wheel spin - I don't have VSC & TRC at the moment - on demand)  s:twisted:  s:twisted:
price: ok (280€ for the whole thing)  s:oops:  s:oops:

I have to mention I've been raised in Alfa Romeos  s:wink:  s:wink:  and the noise I have now is the closest thing to an old GTV6 I've ever heard (from a 4 pot, of course  s:lol:  s:lol:  ). maybe you could compare to a boxer 4 from a 33 quadrifoglio verde...

I wish I was in Doncaster, Darth (for the beer and to hear your setup since I am after a TTE exhaust on ebay  s:wink:  s:wink:  )

Hi Paul

I like the sound of a Beer and would really appreciate seeing and hearing your car with both the Apexi and the exhaust.

I am not too far away (Brighouse) to be precise.

PM me if you fancy meeting up.

John
