So you have fuel but no spark. So it defo ignition related. Check the immobiliser light as mentioned by Dave. Also check your coil pack wiring and plugs.

You've got fuel in the rail, yes.  But do you have fuel in the cylinders?  In other words, are the injectors operating?  That can be checked by pulling the plugs and cranking her over (not for too long) and see if you can hear/smell the injectors working.
If they aren't then something has killed the ignition and injectors, which does narrow it down.
I've known immobilisers on other cars to appear to switch of, but still prevent start.... I haven't sufficient experience of the ones on these cars to know if that's a possibility.  Dave will have that answer.
Something simple has got hot and killed a circuit.  finding it????

Coincidentally ....  l viewtopic.php?f=11&t=58709 l

So I would recommend you remove the crank position sensor, clean everything up and make sure you gave good electrical continuity for the sensor and earth.
Cute & fluffy animals were definitely hurt during the production of this post, there're plenty more where they came from

Just read the linked thread Wabitkilla - looks like a good starting point. I will buy a trolley jack to help me lift the car, get it on my ramps. I assume you have to take the undertray off to get to the CPS if it is near the oil filter, right ?

But, I could still have blocked injectors, Carolyn, so I may do the test you suggest first.

More weekend fun !

Not so much 'blocked' as not injecting- electrically dead.

Quick update for you all.

Run out of my (admittedly meagre) personal skills and knowledge, so I had my local garage pick it up last week.

Just called them now for an update and they say "the codes indicate it is an immobiliser problem" but they haven't got any further finding out exactly what.

Hopefully they will fix it soon as I'm missing all the weather !

Don't feel too bad about the weather, brightness is rather intermittent, around two weeks of really nice weather since beginning of April.
The sunshine is saving itself for 04 June!

Thanks for the offer beavisrules, sorry I have only just picked it up.

Right, here is the latest update - I've got her back and she works !!!!   s:D :D s:D

I went to the garage on Saturday, and they said that they had been trying for a while to get passed the ECU that read 'Immobilizer Fault'.

Then one day, they put one key in and and she would not start. Then they put the spare key in and hey presto, she fired up ! (the spare had been tried before, by both me and the garage so why it worked this time I don't know). Next they put the original key in expecting it not to work but amazingly, that too fired her up ! So she is all operational now, but no-one really knows why.

Anyone give me any clues as to what may have happened here ?

That's very bizarre. How much did the garage charge you to 'fix' it?

I don't like intermittent issues as they always come back. Let's hope this one doesn't

Right, I know it's a year later but I finally fixed this !

Well, if you can call spending £500 at your local Toyota dealer 'fixing' it.

Turns out that there is an amplifier on the ignition barrel that sends the signal to the immobiliser. Mine wasn't amplifying enough. One new one later and she starts first time every time ! Red LED goes out even when the key goes anywhere near the barrel so must be pumping out 1000watts of amplified power !

Still, I know it cost a lot but the first drive after waiting all this time was worth EVERY penny ! Reminded myself why these cars are so special !

So, I'm not sure if you can do this as a DIY using a a scrap car amplifier but I hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
