Spare Wheel Removal - Space Saving?

Hi

Can anyone advise whether removing the spare wheel in the front has a detrimental effect on the cars handling? (removing the additonal weight at the front) or whether the effect is immaterial?

Yes, makes it lowsy   s:cry: :cry: s:cry:  Try it, you will probably find its skipping about. Personally after a bit of trial and other peoples knowledge I've reduced tyre pressures to 25, and put the tool kit in with the spare tyre.

Did have a bit of a problem when the roads became greasy (rubber + water in Novemberish) but now seems OK.

I have run without the spare wheel since just after I got my car in nov 2000, I don't know what all the fuss is about.

I run 24psi front tyre pressure, and the only time I ever get understeer is in tight slow corners, which is easily dealt with by trail braking.

I have a can of foam and a mini-compressor in the cubbyhole behind the drivers seat, which sits about level with the toolkit, and is strapped in with bungee so it doesn't rattle about.

You need more speed in the faster corners then  s;) s;)

I took mine off when I got the car as well...as a need-more-luggage-room-mod at that time. Understeer didn't really bother me as there was just a lot more grip than I was used to. But when I started to learn to drive it and once put the spare back in...the front end just grips like never before  s:shock: :shock: s:shock:
