So today my mechanic called me and he said he noticed cam lobe wear when fixing leak on the rocker cover... and said it must be fixed at once.

I went to look at it and got cam lobe wear on 3 lobes on the intake camshaft. Exhaust camshaft is fine. He said I need to replace at least intake cam and all 4 rocker arms.

Now I'm contemplating if I should upgrade camshafts since I must cover some parts and work anyway.

I've been looking at se7en st2 cams, and still waiting for availability response. However, I still need rocker arms which I can get good used ones from se7en (separately not available).
My mechanic said if I choose new cams, I should also use new rocker arms.. now that doesn't seem to be the practice when installing stage2 cams.

Any ideas what to do?

Off course, the most reliable and cost effective option is to buy intake cam + 4 rocker arms... which comes as a set for £300-ish.

Stage2 cams with 4 used rocker arms would be around £600-ish, but with all 8 rockers arms new around £1100 (and 2 new oem camshafts).

I'd buy the intake cam and followers for $200 from Ebay (if available) and sell the camshaft separately to get cheap followers!! AFIAK the stage 2 cam uses standard followers.

Check the oil spray bars in the rocker cover as well, there is a reason the cams have worn

Dave: Cheers, will check that they flow ... visual was ok. Can't really imagine what can go wrong there, as the engine is pretty clean otherwise...

Just an update. In the end I decided for new stock intake camshaft (comes with rockers) and got the car back this week.

Works for now, even seems to give out a bit more power.

For the peace of mind will send oil to analysis after few hundred miles, so that I'm sure nothing is "wiping" any more  s:) :) s:) .
