Hy!
Just bought this amazing car (mr.2 with SMT) and must say that i have this feeling like the car was made for me! Anyone feel the same?
Been driving it since monday and have put almost 2k in km... Can't wait for warmer days to put the top down...

Every other car i was driving since then is like a box on wheels. It's funny but it's true.

I would like to thank everyone on this forum. You help me a lot with my decision to buy the car. Keep the good work!

Yes I'm sure the SMT is good though. Did the salesman tell you that the car will lose value twice as quick.  The reason been, is that the demand for them is low or non existen.

I though don't believe me. Ask the sale rep from a different Toyota garage.  Tell them that you've got a MR2 mk3 and thinking of getting a SMT geared car. 1st of all they'll say is that they don't stock them and second they'll tell about the lose in value about them.

Personally I would have bought the manual 6 speed version.

Though if you like the car. I'm happy that your happy with it.

I got above book when I traded my Yellow MR2 SMT  for my Prius. Yellow is a very unpopular colour out here.

Mostly just salesman BS.  True, the 2nd hand market is probably limited as I think SMT is strictly a 'boys toy', therefore half your market has gone away straight away.  This would make selling one a bit harder if it comes back to them in the future.  However, I'm on my 2nd SMT, and I didn't feel a huge amount of pain from trading in the first one a 2001 5-sp SMT against a 2003 6-sp model. Ergo, it can't be that hard to move them on.

As for stocking them new - I reckon that's true, they probably have to order them from the factory.  If the guy wants your money he'll order it - even if it means a pile of paperwork.  If he can't be bothered to earn his money, go somewhere else.  His/Her attitude will likely be indicative of the service you can expect to receive from that dealer in the future.
