Coilovers Øhlins? anyone got them?

Anyone on here that got this coil overs?

tried to buy it from a japanese auction, but they could not export it, in fact only new parts can be shipped, witch is a shame...

So where can I find a set?
Hopefully secondhand, as a new one is out of budget...

Think you would be looking for years.
I dont know anyone on this forum that has any.
Get some BC Racing, Meister R, Yellow Speed or Tein.
All much more readily available.
Secondhand suspension is a no for me anyway.

I don't find it anywhere on their website, and I believe it is only for the Japanese marked, but I have just Emailed them, and will share their answer when I get it.

Out of all the different coil over kits out there, what is the difference?

Or is there other sets with good handling?

Always been a Fan of Bilstein, but they have nothing for MR2...

Last MR2 rolled off the production line almost 10 years ago.
Wasnt the biggest of sellers and therefore isnt the best supported car for modifying.
Tbh Blisten or Ohlins are great manufacturers but the cost on an mr2 would be immense.

Ohlins are apparently one of the best you can get, but as Scotte says... A bit overpriced for the little mr2 unless you're doing some serious competition track driving.

We dont need a tuv stamp here in the uk although i have heard this before that in some countries parts arent legal unless they have TUV.

It might be worth inquiring what that actually means..

i.e. do you have to present your car to them and they install them directly? or are you able to order some expressly for "motorsport" nudge nudge wink wink....

The Japanese - as a general rule - are a nation of very honest folk. The advert was extremely descriptive, and when they arrived, they were exactly as described.

To buy these new in Japan will cost you £2.5K.... ummm I don't think I need to say much more than that... would you honestly feel a £1750 price difference between these and the regular choices that people make on here?

Should have seen the first TRD rear brace i got straight off the boat from Japan.
Big dent in it.
Tbh there was an English involvement in that purchase so perhaps that was the problem.

I would believe they could use the specs for the Japanese kit, and put it together in Sweden?
But I know they can build whatever you want for your car, as long as you are prepared to pay for it...

Anyway I think I will get some miles in my car, and get the mechanics right before going to far with the modifications.

No, not many of us can feel the difference, and no one even know if they actually is any better.

After all a suspension setup is much more than springs and dampers.

A well set up stock car will outperform the finest of coil overs, if they are not set up correctly.
However a well set up coil over setup (or just plain uprated dampers and springs) maybe other stabilizers, and so on, can transform the cars capabilities both on the road and on the track

BUT not at the same time.....

As you have said yourself, a well setup stock car is fine place to be.

Think we can drop this post now, as I need to sort out the rest of the car before going for "unnessesey" mods....

Whatever I do, I think I will drop the dreams of Øhlins, and rather go for a more available solution.

For the time I will focus on my 2zz swap, and then enjoy the car as it is, and maybe upgrade it later on

Good decision.
You can make many improvements to the car for the cost of the ohlins and still have change.

might be worth getting in touch with Bilstein, they will do a lot of custom stuff as well as off the shelf,
the top spec bilstein is every bit as good as ohlins, but the name is not as prestigious because bilstein also make more budget kit,
worth bearing in mind that ohlins is primarily designed for track use, so will not survive well with road grime, salt etc..
it needs regular servicing,
bilstein is generally more hard wearing,
of course there is always nitron in the UK, who will build custom for a reasonable price (relative to ohlins) for example their NTR coilover shocks are about 1000 GBP for a set of 4.
more important than the brand, is making sure the damping and springing is correct for the car as you use it.
if you have a race spec suspension is will be very crashy on the road and you will be slower and more uncomfortable than stock.
you need something that is valved and sprung for the roads you drive,
