Just had my car in for a 40K + MOT.

Garage say that alls fine but it'll probably need a timing chain change next service.

Thought timing chains lasted a bit longer than that.  Any thoughts before I go collect and look like a blundering idiot when I raise it.

I believe the manual says that they last for between 150,000 and 200,000 but will need the tension adjusting during this time

Thanks... 50K is a bit strange then.

I don't beleive they can be adjusted, but they aren't going to stretch either, I'll have a look at the manual.

Seems it was a miscommunication.... they're going to change the timing chain tensioner (not the chain itself).  Again   s:roll:  s:roll:  .
