What do I need to fit Toyosport manifold?

Going to pick this this up from a member on here this afternoon (thanks Headcase).

I read that there might be some brackets or bolts required to fit it to a PFL MRS car?

So what other stuff (gaskets, pinch rings etc) will be required to complete installation please? (already got Plus Gas   s:) :) s:)  )

If your 2  is not your daily I suggest that you first remove the existing top heat shield and manifold.
You will then know if any replacement studs are required in the head and / or on the bottom flange.
You will need 5 new nuts for the fixing to the head and a new gasket.
At the bottom end you will need new crush washers.
You will notice by comparison with your OE manifold that your new manifold does not have fixing points to replace the top heat shield, nor fixing points at the lower end of the manifold to support the manifold weight.
The heat shield is often left off and the manifold wrapped with tape, best done off the car I understand.
The lower support fixing is perhaps not required. The OE manifold is heavier than your replacement and featured a lower support, possibly to allow the 3 Amigos to be undone!
I have only experienced the removal/ replacement of an OE manifold and the " effort" required to undo the 3 friends, whether an unsupported manifold would resist this " effort " I do not know.
If you want to support the new manifold your choice would be to have new fixing points welded to the manifold like on the OE or fabricate or possibly utilise proprietary exhaust clamps as the basis for fixing back to the engine block.

Just fitted my toyosport. I recommend getting 5 new nuts for the manifold, and 3 new nuts for the flange at the bottom. If you don't already, get yourself a large can of plusgas, a breaker bar, and a wire brush to clean up the threads. Then take your time.
I rushed the 'doing up' of the amigos and sheared a flange stud. No biggy, just a pain to take it all apart and fit a stud from the OE manifold

2nd that to the new nuts and bolts
Also it will be far easier to wrap it off the car but it can be done later like i did . my heat wrap was £5.25 inc delivery off ebay with stainless cable ties
Slowly replacing all the old parts for new parts so that one day i will end up with a brand new car !   s]

Thank you all (great write up Joesson).

I was thinking of fabricating some sort of lower bracket to support the manifold, but not had a good look at it yet.

I haven't measured them yet, so does anyone know sizes and lengths of studs/bolts required?

Also, heat wrap......how much required and are there different types I should look out for/avoid?

Sorry for the rookie questions.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but where is the best place to get the exhaust manifold to head studs and nuts? My mate needs them. He just went to toyota and they want 47 quid!!

I bought mine from my local motor factors (I swear I said that yesterday to someone else!)
IIRC, they were £2 each and the brass nuts were £1 each. So, what, £15 all in?

I took one of the old ones into them so that they could see what they were looking for.

Wrap it on the bench.  50% overlap.  I hold it in place with plastic ties and then put the stainless ones on when it's pretty.

Any ideas of the pitch and thread do i need? M10 1.25? or M10 1.5?

Interesting, I took the OEM ones out last night Carolyn and measured them using a die. They were definitely 1.25.
I wonder if your import is different?

EDIT to add... that scared me! So I went and checked.
Absolutely no pressure at all needed.

In addition, I measured it

Mine is a 2003 FL.

Getting garage to fit my recently acquired 2nd hand toyosport next week, but going to try wrapping myself. Need some advice/opinions.

Will 2" x 10' be enough for rookie on 1st attempt or do i go crazy and get 50'?

I'm aware there's fibreglass and titanium wraps, and read that titanium doesn't need soaked before wrapping, but are there advantages of one type of wrap over the other?

Do I need to prep or clean the mani outer surface (it's used second hand) before wrapping?

Is there a proper name/part no for the steel zip ties or do I just google exactly that - "steel zip ties"?

Finally, looks like there's sealant/gasket still on upper half - what tools/cleaning chemicals should I use to remove these? (I'm assuming best not to reuse?)

Thanks

One thing for sure, don't believe the hype about the "no soaking", any cut ends will still release the fibres and if you get them in your pores it's a bat-turd...

I wrapped my Hamish Manifold earlier this year - no time at the mo, but I will reply better later with my process

Parts:-
Hamish Manifold
Titanium wrap and stainless ties that came with the Hamish Manifold (Was 10 metres if this helps)
Wallpapering scissors
Marigolds (Mine were yellow and Tesco own brand)

What I did
Soaked the wrap overnight in a bucket. Make sure this bucket isn't a car washing one
Chose the awkward pipe from each side (or sensor if you like)
Cut a piece of wrap long enough to wrap the awkward pipe with a bit left over for contingency. It will unravel (more on this later)
Start at the join, wrap the wrap over itself initially so it holds while pulling taught. Overlap the wrap by half the width and wrap to the flange (Head end). Secure with Stainless tie. Pull the tie with pliers until tight. Cut excess from the tie. Repeat for other awkward pipe
Start at the cat flange and wrap as above, ensuring the sensor hole is left uncovered (I did a little 'figure 8' wrap). On reaching the join and previously wrapped pipe wrap both until a couple of wraps done, then pass through in between to complete the single pipe up to the head flange. Secure with Stainless tie. Pull the tie with pliers until tight. Cut excess from the tie. Repeat for last pipe
Et Voila!!!

What I should have done
TOOK MORE PICTURES!!!
Used the stainless ties at the start instead of wrapping it over itself
Secured the loose end of the wrap with something to stop it unravelling while wrapping (Bunching it up and using a nylon cable tie would have been fine)
Not used my car wash bucket!!!
Worn long sleeves

Hope this all makes sense @delhusband

Fast forward a week or so and I wrapped my decat centre pipe. I learnt from the manifold, didn't lose much to unravelling and was generally happier with it. You'll be fine Del. Take your time, unwrap if needed and redo. It's quite fun until the itching starts

You can just see it in this pic. Kit purchased off Ebay for about £8 - 10 metres of titanium wrap and 10 steel ties
