Folks, i ordered a stereo mount for my new stereo (Audioleads FP-11-03) but now i've fitted it there is a 1 inch gap all around the mount to the covers that go on the uprights, the paperwork says the mount is for a 2000-03 Toyota MR2 Spyder so it should fit fine.

any idea's on why?

How does it differ to my photo here?

Have you removed the trim surround from your original OEM headunit and clipped it onto your new fascia?

The surround that you are referring to (IIRC) only comes with the Sony HU (pre '03). Post '03 the fascia is moulded differently (or at least it was on both my '03 & '53 cars)

The surround is NOT available as a seperate item as it ships with the HU direct from Sony.

He's got a '53, so he should have the Fisher Price unit.

You need to reuse the surround that was fitted to your original head unit, as per the photos of my car in the Audio forum...

I used the same kit. Well, 2 of them in fact...

No gap issues to speak of at all. and if your only using the one kit, its a doddle...

Steve, apologies if I have misunderstood your post, but on my '04, there is a piece of trim that goes round the stock fisher-price headunit that you can prise away. This then clips onto the autoleads fascia to give the nice finished look as shown in Grant's double setup.

I would have posted a link to Grant's excellent guide, but forgot it was there   s:oops:  s:oops:
