Hi, as the title states I have an issue with a replacement remote.

I have a 2005 Roadster that only came with one key, so following advice form this site I bought a second-hand key with the correct internals and a new blade/shell from fleabay, I built it up and had the key cut.

The key works and I programmed the remote, again following instructions for here - but the new key will not switch off the immobiliser, so I can get in and turn on the ignition but that's it.

I realise that there must be a sequence to get the immob to listen but I am at a loss. I have trawled the net but there seam to be so many different options/way of doing it and comments about grey keys, new ecu's being required.

As I have said, the key works the lock, the remote locks and un-locks the doors but the immob is still on !
Is there a straight forward guide I can follow

Kindest regards Ian

I'll need to do this myself soon but from reading there seems to be two sets of instructions, so I wonder if it's a two part process.

You do need to complete both sets of programming instructions to get the new key to work with a UK spec'd car

Yes, two jobs to get your key to work.  You have already twinned the remote alarm with the steps you have taken.  Next job will be to twin the immobiliser chip in the key - similar set of steps ending with the new key in the ignition.  The key needs to talk to the immobiliser sensor ring around the ignition keyhole for this step to complete.

Hi

Many thanks for the advice, I have had a look for the instructions for programming the imob part and have three different versions ? Its all too confusing

Can anyone direct me to the correct 'easy to follow' instructions

Cheers Ian

Just done it, found the last post in that thread easier to follow.

For what it's worth it didn't work for me first time (programming the buttons). So paired the key to the immobiliser, then attempted the buttons again and it worked fine. Probably user error but just thought I'd mention it
