I thought my car broke traction too easy coming out of junctions, even parking bays, always in first gear, always when turning right, enough to need catching even at very low speeds.

I put it down to the weather or a heavy right foot, but turns out after i checked my tyre psi,

My rear left tyre was at 24!, my rear right 30 and my two fornts 26.  

Corrected it and no more spinning.

I had a similar sobering experience which I havn't yet resolved. Although had the 2 for 4 mths not really thrown it around yet but driving to work on wednesday and just taking a normal right turn I accelerated but not greatly and totally lost the back end, normally under more gas it can slide a little and regain traction but couldn't regain control until had swung left,right,left - totally took me by surprise!  s:shock: :shock: s:shock:    

Considered driving conditions which wern't bad, tyre pressures which are ok, treads which may be an issue although not yet needing replacing & possibility of something on the road?

May need to find a bit of private road and just understand what the hell happened.  s:? :? s:?

Ah that sounds familar, its amazing how even the same bit of road can change when wet cold and greasy.

2 months after fitting 17" wheels and Toyo's and I'm still re-learning the car. I almost spin it every now and then, but I don't go stupid when the roads are damp: it's just not worth it.

Roll on the summer!   s:D :D s:D

The Spyder's mid-engined layout puts a lot of weight over the rear wheels and I've had trouble figuring out how to control oversteer. The reflexive response when the rear end breaks out is to back off the throttle, which reduces traction to the rear wheels and results in a vicious fishtailing effect some refer to as "snap oversteer." It doesn't feel good at all.

Correcting from a loss of rear traction requires either a) keeping the throttle steady, or b) adding throttle to increase weight over the rear tires - both somewhat counter-intuitive moves. It doesn't happen to me often, but I'm currently trying to evaluate (b) above. All of this assumes, of course, that your tire pressure is correct and you have sufficient tread.

right, but hard right lock on from standing, floor it, whilst turning left lock,

Keep spinning it, keep catching it.  I've done it about 100 times since last week and i can catch without fishtailing now.  although we're talking about 10 mph power slides, wouldn't like to catch a 60mph slide on public road (again).

Mine would just understeer in that situation.  It's rare that the front end overcomes the grip of the back.

I've never driven a car that was so easy to donut as the 2  s:D :D s:D

The thing I find is that becuase it's midengined when it breaks away it breaks away FAST !

I find "catching" the back end easy, its over doing it and have the back go the other way that really gets me.

i got my back end out the other day coming of an island, it was damp and i did put my foot down abit, but it was good fun, it wasnt uncontrolable so i didnt find it scary but i have been taking it slowly round islands the last couple of days he ehe

I find the back ends very solid on these, its my old Turbo mr2 that was a little twitchy, although it was a little uprated.

I found the best thing to do was either, to apply more power, usually producing alot of smoke and a nice drift or to keep the throttle constant and try to keep the car as wel balanced as possible  s:) :) s:)
