Hi guys

This is my first post on your great forum so I hope i'm doing it right!!

I'm seriously considering buying a new MR2 Red (Red as in the model, not the colour!) and am trying to find out where to get the best deal. I don't want any upgrades to the car as I will sort them after purchase  s:evil:  s:evil: !

The cheapest i've found so far is £16091, on the website  w www.autobytel.co.uk w .

I would be able to pay the full amount in cash, with no part exchange.

If anyone can point me in the right direction i'd be very grateful.

Thanks a lot,

Markyboy

Have you tried your local Toyota Dealer?

see what they can do for you. A cash sale right at the end of January is usually a sure way to get the discounts flowing, although with no options you're notleaving them a lot of room to move... A plus side though is that Toyota will probably have your car in country, so you wont have to wait 4 months like I did for it to turn up.

Try drivethedeal.com.

My local dealer was useless and I was intending to use the above.  That was until I got a 3 week old car at a better price.

Where do you live  s:?: :?: s:?:  If not too far I can see what my local dealership will do as they like to price match.

Get the best deal on the net you can find then go to your local dealers with the cash carrot and I'm sure they'll match it especially at this time of year.

Thanks guys. I'm in Swansea and, as you lot say, my dealer said he can match that price. Does anyone think I can knock em down further?

Any hints and tips with the bargaining would be great - this would be the first car i've bought myself.

Thanks again!!

Look in the back of What car for the target price for the MR2. (was £15,800 a couple of years back when we bought ours) It's a good point to aim for since thats the price a UK broker can usually acheive so shouldn't be out of their reach either. I'd also try ang get some extras thrown in on top of that such as leather, hard top, aircon etc since now is a particularly slow time for new cars and especially soft tops. I noticed my local delaer had about 4 preregistered cars on the forecourt for low prices - just depends how luck you are as to whether you come across a red one.

I bought mine from Autobytel - it is actually an Inchcape website so you get it from a Toyota dealer. Have to pick up from Guildford or Nottingham, though.

Might get a better deal this time of year by negotiating with them, but I doubt it. Always worth a try - especially if the vehicle you want is in the country somewhere.

Markyboy,

Have you had a look at the used section on the Toyota GB web site?

They advertise quite a few pre reg'd cars at reasonable discounts, plus anything you can negociate at the time of sale; I achieved a further £500.

I only suggest this because I bought my two month old car with 8 miles on the clock this way with a saving of nearly £3000 on list price (including fitted extras).   s:D :D s:D

Admittedly by might not get the Red version but you should be able to get a car with a decent spec.

Regards,

Andrew
