Call the midlife!

Anybody else have problems with the top of the screen snagging on this? Seems a bit proud/strained?

Hi,

use some WD40 on the release...

that should solve your issue.

Cheers

Cheers for that but it's not an issue with the release itself, that works fine, it's the inner liner/screen surround that snags on the spring clip on the way up and down. I just have to guide it past it to avoid damaging it, I'm not sure if it's just age and a lack of tension in the hood or maybe a bent roof bar. I'm going to pick some brains at Ding Day, or SiP...

my original hood was fine and lifted and lowered freely until I fitted a new Hertz Mohair hood and mine now also catches the centre release catch like yours
I was told that it would get better with time and has slightly.
As I fitted the roof myself I know its not a bent bow but more likely the rear screen design as it's slightly different causing the problem?
Slowly replacing all the old parts for new parts so that one day i will end up with a brand new car !   s]

As far as I know it's the original hood and rear screen on a 2000 PFL, there are some areas of the inner lining that aren't properly fixed that I can see and the usual unsightly lumps on the top over the side rails but I've not seen enough others to be able to tell what's right and wrong, if you know what I mean.
So for now it's just a careful approach, certainly no lifting it from the driver's seat or anything like that! Although it did seem to work better at the weekend when the sun had been on it for a while so it could just be a lack of use issue.
Time will tell.
Thanks again.

Might be happening to mine but as its shagged I lift the screen with one hand and pull up with t'other.
Seems every part catches everything now it's past it.
I don't bother tucking the ears in anymore either.

Same approach here although I do tuck if it's supple enough.
