Hi,

I have a 2000 mr2 and want to remove the head unit so I can put the md changer and remote in the back. Can you let me know how to get it out please.

the stereo is bolted to rails that mount down the sides of the stereo and have caps fitted over them, to remove the caps look at the very bottom of the console sides at floor level, you'll find a silver plastic section that will pull off (this is hard to pull off so be persistant and the 2 screw caps are fakes, only pull the whole section). Behind this is 2 screws on each side, remove these and the rail covers can be removed, rest is obvious

Hopefully it is as easy as it sounds. Have just sprained my ankle so am unable to go and have a look.

Do you think its possible to get behind the headunit without taking it out?

Its possible, but theres bugger all room...

Roof down, lie in the seat with your legs in the air and your head under the dash, and you'll see the back of the radio up close and personal...

Tis possible, but it HURTS.  s:( :( s:(

If you're fitting an autochanger, then you need to access both sides of the rear of the h/u.

The chap talks about a left hand and right hand mounting bracket.

Do we need this? or is it for import cars only ?
