Call the midlife!

A couple of times now the driver's side clamp has "popped" open while driving, mildly alarming the first time as I expected it to rip back or off! And both times around 11pm. I'm assuming it's just a case of adding some tension to the clamp but was looking for a steer as to how tight I should be looking for? At the moment they're both fairly relaxed and easy to clamp but seemingly too relaxed...

There is an adjuster for the tension. Its a long black hexagon section under the clamp area.

Is fairly common for the hardtop ones to spring it out. Less so on the soft top ones. The have been a few thread on the ht ones and the clasps are the same.

Yeah, I've seen the hex nut and assumed it was just a case of a few turns but it's one of those things isn't it? I've got other equipment with spring clamps on but don't want to muller the roof by over-tightening it. I'm thinking it was tighter when I first got it but no idea how much use it had been getting, possibly it's just slackening up with use and the change in the weather?

Id suggest small changes to the tension. They don't have a huge amount of adjustment anyway.
There is another step when you run out of tension, it involves removing the nut and trimming it down.
Try the small adjustments first though. Sounds obvious, but it needs enough to lock soundly with giving yourself a hernia in the process.
Perhaps a fiddle of another's members clamps is in order!  s;-) ;-) s;-)

Well I'm all for it! [emoji2]
I'll settle for a fiddle with my own tomorrow for the time being, a suck it and see approach!
That's about all I'll manage this weekend as the tractor needs a coat of looking at! Pesky EGR valve, fingers crossed anyway!

I had the same issue with the clasp popping open, as you say, very scary at speed!

I have adjusted mine and no problems since. I seem to remember you have to pull a plastic clip down and then adjust with a 10 mm spanner.

Fiddling seemingly successfully accomplished. Much more positive closure, I don't think the driver's side has been engaging fully in the hook everytime and that's why it's been popping with the body flex. Time will tell.
Stereo fiddling time now while the weather holds!
