I need to lift out my frunk covers. I've tried 'undoing' two clips & broken both of them. Some of the other clips used on the car can be removed & re-used. Can anyone recommend a different clip to use for the frunk?

An ebay link would be ideal......?

These are they:-

Look at this on eBay   m http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371600169292 m

To remove you push the centre pin down by 4-5mm then the entire clip can be lifted out. They're reusable. The collar only collapses after a few years due to the plastic fatigue due to exposed to the elements.

I got this set for my various missing/broken clips although if it's just the frunk clips then gazza's option is definitely more cost effective.

The clips are certainly " reusable" but only just and in my experience spares are often necessary.
Someone on here fitted rivnuts to each fixing point and then used st st machine screws and penny washers ( as I use on the undertrays). Pan head socket may be more aesthetic than hex head in that position.

This costs more initially, (but the residue from a bag of fixings for the undertrays would do these as well) and would take a little longer when removing the frunk / front cover but it is perhaps only an annual event.
So far I have stayed with the clips, need to order some more at the moment!
Not sure about the  st st  fixings, possibly too much extra front end weight  s:wink:  s:wink:

The ones link to by Gazza above are the standard one's.... & they are meant to be re-useable..... hmm, ok.  I was hoping there might be a different type to use.... no?

I'm in the process of fitting rivnuts where feasible for the frunk cover, with allen key mushroom screws but you can't get away from using clips where it's plastic to plastic but as Joesson says, how often are you going to be taking the clips out? Mine has a variety of types holding it in place from the previous owners, some pushfit and others expanding screws. The screws have been chewed by numpties with ill fitting screwdrivers so they're destined for the bin once I get round to it. I've some work I want to do under the covers with bits of rusted brackets etc, UJ and flipping the spare wheel so I'm just biding my time then doing it all in one hit.

I just got some of these from ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400397710411

Based on this chap's handy video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99rOFuQazSA

I'm very impressed with them compared with the original Toyota clips. You "lift" the centre of the clip with a screwdriver (rather than "push" down) which is much easier. I also expect them to survive more removals/refittings. Have just used some to refit the rear bumper following a subframe swap.

You might find rawlnuts easier than rivnuts - the 4mm size is about right

Hi . . Sorry to jump on this posting . . But I thought 'Frunk Clips' were the 2 clips that secure the Front Trunk cover that stores the spare wheel.
I bought 2 of these on eBay . .Fitted them . . But was surprised to find that the clip does not lie flat . . !!??
It clips around the pin, but if you did try to push it flat, it would break the clip . . again!
Can anyone please clarify for me if the above is correct.

They are a bit delicate and prone to breaking (especially if lined up wonrgly and forced) but, no, you should be able to push them home properly and have them hold the frunk lid in place reasonably tightly.

I forgot about this post. Just ordered a whole box - I'll replace them all at some stage.
