Flaky Wheels Under Warranty?

My wheels are now flaking quite badly and are at the point where they need changed/reburbished. Fortunately/unfortunately, depending on how you look at this, I have, theoretically, 5 weeks or so of warranty left. However, until recently I thought it was only a two year warranty rather than three, so I had my 2nd service done by my local garage (non-Toyota). I was really happy with it ie. price, service etc...my local garage services a range of sports cars including Lotus Elise. etc.

Anyway, how material do you think this fact will be to me claiming under warranty from Toyota for new alloys? My thinking is that there's nothing Toyota could have done at the 2nd service that would have prevented the flaking (other than change the alloys) so I might be OK.

Also do you think it'll affect my ability to take out an extended warranty? (ie. I just saw the price of a new p/s pump in a previous post!!)

My car's just done 17k miles.

I'd appreciate any views and advice.

ps - had a lovely xmas present after someone backed into my nearside rear wing and left without leaving any details. £250.00 worth of body repairs. I can certainly recommend Cosmic Coachcraft for anyone in the East Lothian area as the job they did was immaculate...

Many have been replaced under warranty, you might wanna use the search to print some examples to Toyota when you ask about it s;)

Mine were replaced, my car didn't have its first service, and its second was done by ford. I've had laods of warrenty work since then

afaik eu regulations state that you can have the car serviced wherever you want without affecting the warranty.

shouldn't make any difference, they wouldn't be any different if you'd had no service at all.

My first two services on mine (I didn't do them, previous owner) were not at MrT. Replaced the wheels no problem.......... s:D

Just so you guys don't think it's Toyota's my Rays on my 350Z are flaking really badly at the back at the moment, I'm yet to see if Nissan will be as good about the issue as Toyota.

When i took my MR2 in to get the wheels replaced, they didn't even look at them. At the end of the day its warranty work for them, I'd be surprised if a dealer turned you down, and even if they do go somewhere else!

Same here, replaced all 4 without even looking at them.
