Hi, I am thinking of removing the trailing arms in the rear suspension to check the bushes. These are the ones that connect from the rear wheel hub assembly running forward to the bottom of the body shell either side of the engine.

The bolt at the front end of these links seem to be quite long with some kind of captive nut on the outer end and the bolt runs through the bush, then through a nut and finally also holds on the front of the structural bars under the engine.

I can't quite work out how to go about getting this bolt out and whether I really need the car up on ramps rather than just stands.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

If it's the one I think it is you ratchet the outer nut and hold the middle nut with a spanner.

Thanks, is there a nut on the inner end, holding the bracing bar on, that needs to be removed first?

Yes indeed. Remove the inner nut and loosen brace, then hold middle nut and turn outside.
