Toyosports Manifold - studs!

I could ask Carolyn the question privately, but then again, no-one would get the benefit of knowledge!

I have just received a lovely Toyosports manifold. However, unlike the last one, the holes that meet the head are much larger (12mm compared with the 8mm of the standard one).

Are there some special studs that I'm supposed to have used?
On the other end, I have 3 lovely brand new 3 amigo studs and nuts. Interestingly, it's also supplied with a brand new gasket for each end, which is odd considering you normally use 2 "o" rings to the cat (which I already have). Should I use both?

I used both at the Cat join.... The toyosports Head to manifold gasket that came with mine was pants (Badly cut) so I bought a genuine one
I'm running the stock studs on mine

Even thought the holes are much wider?

I'll have to check and get back to you... I don't recall there being much gap between the holes and the studs

Hmm  That's strange (the hole sizes, I mean).  Big thick strong washers seem to be called for.

That is the manifold we are talking about

Yes, sorry, for clarity, there's nothing wrong with the manifold, it's just the holes are miles bigger than I expected.
Looking at the brand new Toyosports ones, they haven't got as big a hole.

As Tewje said, these were fitted by Toyota for him too......

It will be just fine, I'm sure.  If you want any tips on wrapping it, give me a buzz.

I know Stu, I just want to help with that case. I didn't know that holes are bigger. I hope you won't have any problems with fitment.

Ah, I have it wrapped. It looks proper tight too - no movement at all.

Is there any disadvantage though in using extra cable ties just in case?

Cable ties or steel ties?  Stating the blindingly obvious - the plastic ones will melt?

Use steel ties!

The Other Stu

Well yes, they are stainless steel ties (to be exact - you wouldn't want crappy steel)
What I mean is, would it really matter if I put a dozen on?

To add, I bought Tewje's thermal wrap too, which is excellent (if dirty). Absolutely miles and miles of the stuff!
I have entirely covered the manifold generously and I've barely used half. So I have that left, plus another 10m that I bought to cover the cat.

I bought the best wrap I found on polish ebay. And used like 20% of it. In fact there is enought tape to cover every single pipe in our mr2s

Roughly how many meters?
Be useful to know this

It was enough to not only entirely cover the manifold, but all of the cat, bar the shoulders (which I can't work out a way of getting it to stay)
It's very, very thick compared with normal stuff too.
