Most efficient way to change OS inner CV boot?

Currently have all the rear suspension arms and rear subframe off the car. There's a tear in the OS/driverside inner CV joint.

What's the best way to remove this end of the driveshaft to replace this? Is it necessary to remove the hub from the driveshaft or can we just remove the driveshaft from the gearbox?

Thanks in advance.

Pop the driveshaft end (with cv bearings) out of its housing. If you remove the C-shaped bracket on the bearing carrier that's bolted to the engine, then you can free off the bearing carrier, which makes the whole thing go floppy and flexible. Oh and you need to loosen the bolts at the bottom of the strut and remove one of them, to allow the hub to swing down...

When you say pop the driveshaft do you mean tapping it out with a hammer? Where is the best place to hit? The hub end or the gearbox end?

Only the nearside needs the hammer treatment.  The offside just comes out, once the bearing carrier is unbolted.

I can't quite picture it while I'm sitting in an airport having not seen the car for two weeks but once I see the setup I'm sure it'll make sense. Thanks.
