What settings are a good for mainly road use,  currently they are as they came on full soft all round.

Depends on the weather, how low you're riding, if you've got roll centre adjust kit, rear camber bolts and what tyres and indeed what coilover spring rating you're running. Tbh there's endless combinations that will give different levels of grip at each corner.

I'm running 4/6 springs on my BC's with a fast road geometry setup and 615mm height on each corner.
If it's dry conditions on the road I'd run around 12 from full hard on the front and 18 from hard on the rear.
In the dry make it a bit softer all round again, but keep the rear softer than the front to give you a bit more predictability.

Hope this helps.

As it's a bit warmer now, I've gone from 5f/6r to 16f/17r from full soft.

Every car and driver has their preferred settings depending on all those other things which Phil mentioned.

Still a good start is from fully soft, crank them up four clicks and drive for a few days. Then increase the settings steadily over a long period of time. You will find your personal sweet spot easily this way.

If the padding in your seats has lost its strength (ie old and knackered) you might find the ride is harsh whilst the handling is fantastic. Then you have to either redo the seats or give up some of the new improved feel. I changed my seats because of this.

I have the rear softer than the front on my car.

Please can I add that whenever you adjust the damper settings on coilovers that you always go full stiff first, and count clicks from there. This is because if you go full soft first, then the valve is fully open and closing slightly from that point with weight on the suspension doesn't give you as accurate a setting as starting from fully closed (hard).
It was explained to me properly by a Time Attack competitor once, and that's the general idea.

Oh that's odd. I read it was the other way around to release all pressure to make sure you start from 0
