Call the midlife!

Whenever I drive with the top down and windows up I get an annoying squeak from the passenger side window/door. If I pull the door tight into the shut the squeak stops.
Giving the roof and A pillar seals a clean and treat tonight I pulled this bit of weirdness out of the A pillar rubber (key for scale only, that wasn't stuck in there as well!)
No corresponding bit on the driver's side and it wasn't fastened in as such so hopefully it won't squeak anymore but more hopefully it wasn't stuck there for a reason!

Certainly don't think it's supposed to be stuck in the window seal..[emoji23]

Isn't that the tab that should fit in the A pillar/window seal, about half way up the pillar. I think people have reported that they get water leaks if these are missing or bent.

I've seen similar attachments on other cars that seem to guide the windows towards the seal but this certainly wasn't fixed properly and there isn't one on the driver's side and I've not experienced any leaks. Yet! Lol.

That's definitely a window " Shim" fits into front rubber seal on either side of the 2's doors - It acts like a guide to the glass so that when closed the car is weather proofed!! All Marks of the MR2 have them as do Celicas !!

Not anymore it doesn't! [emoji23]And by the way it was jammed in I think it would be doing more harm than good. But thanks for the appraisals, I've looked at my exploded diagrams for parts assembly and it doesn't show anything like this bit , nothing at all to be seen. But bearing in mind there's not one I can see on t'other side and this one wasn't correctly fitted and I've no leaks I'm going to leave it out and compare fittings on Saturday.
Cheers for the attention [emoji1303]

It should fit externally on the rubber seal but they often get bent inwards or broken off.

I've just been reading some old threads and it definitely wasn't fitted correctly regardless, plus if you can make it out on the photo the plastic has been worn away from the outside edge where the window has been rubbing on it so I'm assuming that's the cause of the squeak in motion. And the window seal was deformed where the clip had been shoved in round it. Knowing my luck it'll start to leak now!
