I have been getting a P0420 fault lately.
New CAT last year for the MOT, so I think the sensor is a fair bet (I think it's the only one I haven't replaced yet).
Is it the Denso DOX-0109  I want, or is there a specific number for that one?
They seem cheaper than I remember, only £37.46 from Sparkplugs atm.

I get this from time to time too. You could try an o2 bung, unless you know for sure the sensor is pooched.
Is it an intermittent issue?

Takes a few days to come back when I reset it, and the sensor has been in and out of four different cats/pipes that I can think of, so I think it's a fair bet. I did consider a diverter, having used one on my straight through pipe, but I suspect the sensor is fubar'd.
I've had the car for about 3 and a half glorious years now, and I don't know how old the sensor was when I got the car. The front 2 packed up within about 6 months of getting it.

When mine was playing up it would go a few days without throwing the code.  It depended on what driving I was doing as, if I remember rightly, one code needs an up to temperature engine and sustained +2000 rpm to trigger.  On shorter journeys it wasn't triggering.

Perhaps time for a new sensor then.

That's what I was thinking. Just checking which one. Sparkplugs uk seem to be listing two atm, and I am easily confused. I've wasted a good few hundred quid buying the wrong bit for a job...

DOX-0109 is the rear (post cat), as the lead length is longer at 750mm. I think this used to have a different part number on sparkplugs website. This one appears under a universal banner now.

DOX-0204 is for the manifold end with a length of 360mm.

That's the bit I was wondering about. Makes  a nice change to want the cheaper one  s:) :) s:)
Since I'm saving money, I might as well spend the difference on the spark plugs I've been meaning to change for a couple of months.

I'm sure the DOX-0109 is the universal one that you have to cut the wires off your old one and connect them to this one to work.

DOX-0206 is the post cat sensor specific to the MR2 that just plugs straight in.

Oh  s:( :( s:(
I've ordered one now. Are the wires the same colours, so that a numpty like me can swap them over without too many problems.

I dont know. I ordered the 0206 last time. I'm sure they will be or it will be obvious which ones go where. If not, post on here and I'm sure some have done it before.

Weirdly Tricky, when you select the options for MK3 MR2 on their site, they bring up the universal one now.

@Fin - If it doesn't work I'll pay for the sensor you have just bought. As I feel I have given you some duff info.   s:oops:  s:oops:    s:oops:  s:oops:

Not a problem. If it doesn't work as the rear sensor, I'll just keep it until one of the front ones packs up. Bound to happen sooner or later, but thanks for the offer   s:D :D s:D

I can confirm it works as the rear and the front.
The difference between the rear and the fronts is the length of cable (honest!)

I also have an email from Opie confirming.

FWIW, the bare-end cable (means a bit of soldering or cable-connectors) is £37 odd at Opie.

Well, that all went together fine. Usual routine, 10 minute job took an hour because I couldn't get at it without removing the bumper   s:roll:  s:roll:
The only thing I don't understand: My missus can name at least 2 or 3 million different colours when she is looking at paint etc (being male, I can only see about 7).
How come Denso couldn't come up with 4 different colours for their wires?
I assume the 2 blacks have different functions, and if I throw another code, I just have to swap them over?
Tricky, you were right about having to cut the ends off, and use the old plug. Easy enough, and they even supply the 4 crush connectors   s:D :D s:D
