handbrake woes

For all of you who have crappy handbrakes, mine was sh!it a year ago, mot looming. calipers free new cables, but l/h cable seemed to struggle to return so caliper could not return to reset.so as a quick bodge fitted a additional spring on the t bar to help it return. thoughts maybe bad cable, but seemed free when tried.
Maybe spring on caliper a bit tired? anyway it's been on a year was going to mod it, but it still works so sod it leave it, both wheels lock up solid
