Have used my MR2 a few times over the last few days and got me thinking , it's 14 years old and still on the original tyres having only done 12k , may be a good idea to replace ?  They must have a life span do you all think ? Would like to keep it as original as I can and it has Yokohama advan a-d43 on, are they still available ?

Definitely time to change, 4 - 5 years I think is about the expected life.

If I put my car reg into blackcircles it lists 205/45R16 for rear , mine are 215/45R16 which I think are standard so what size is original ? Two choices of Yokohama on camskill site for fronts one being £52.00 each the other £91, only one choice of Yokohama for rear £104 each . Which matches the dearer fronts .

Those tyres are definitely worth replacing.  Beware of perishing and cracks regardless of the tread depth.  An overzealous police officer might count cracks as a tyre defect, which is three points per corner (ban for a full house) and a whacking fine!

Just had to change all 4 on a 3 year old BMW that doesn't go far.....all with 4-5mm depth left.
Today
2000 x reg pfl - blue - as original no mods
In the late 1980's
1982 x reg Toyota Corolla Liftback Coupe (also blue)
1978 s reg Mitsubishi Celeste Coupe (yellow)

Check the glove box. Should be a little sticker in there with tyre sizes

Yeah, that's an interesting one. My Missus has the original rear tyres on her 57 Panda.
They wouldn't let the front ones go through the MOT last year, but the rears just get an advisory. Car's barely done 10k.

Generally, these days they recommend changing them after 7. I think they're made of slightly sterner stuff.
