Hi Guys,

Just a brief update on the car.

I haven't had much time with other things going on right now, however, I dropped the oil again at the weekend, also cleaned the plugs (for about the fifth time) and decided while I was at it I would do an MMO piston soak with the sump plug out.

1,3 and 4 held fluid reasonably well, but some still went through, however piston 2 just let everything through when I went back at night to recheck. I topped up a few times over the weekend and cranked the motor by hand to work it into the rings, and also let the oil rings scrape some of the mmo down and out of the sump. It started off black. Last night I cranked by hand, to let some MMO scrape down, it was coming out pretty much clean now. So I syringed the MMO that was left out of the combustion chamber, then put new oil in again with some MMO in the oil.

I ran the car to clear out the vapour but haven't actually used it yet. Going to give it a run tomorrow and see how it goes, then drop the oil again at the weekend, add new oil and filter again and run again. I hope it may free up the rings and help matters until I decide what to do with the car.

At the moment the jury is out on the car, I've not had much chance to consider my options, but I only have a few:

A) Scrap the car, sell off the turbo kit and exhaust for a little over 2k, then sell off the rest as parts, or source a stock manifold cheap on ebay, put it back to normal after selling the kit and sell it as an oil burning mr2 for spares or repair as a runner for about 1k
B) Throw the car at someone and get a full engine rebuild and get the car a good going over
C) Pull and rebuild or buy a spare lump and rebuild myself then swap

If I commit to rebuilding and not scraping I may as well continue with bodywork that's booked in, and go the extra mile and get a TRD kit also, and perhaps some TTE wheels as well as some other bits and turn it into a very nice looking and going little roadster.

I've got a lot on my mind at the moment, so not really able to focus on which way to go.

Cheers.

Matthew at Rogue offered me some more options, they source a known, good low mileage 1ZZ and swap everything over, or, sell the Turbo kit, pay about 1k more and get a 2ZZ conversion.

I'd rather keep the turbo to be honest, much prefer usable low down torque, grunt, and sound rather than a high revving engine without the torque.
