My clutch is starting to get quite heavy. I'm just wondering how difficult it is to change? Is it something I can do on ramps?

Yup. 2 people suggested, but not necessary.

Check out the how to.

Did mine when I had the gearbox rebuilt.
Can be done on ramps, but definitely easier with 2 people.
The Sun is out, the sky is blue,
The roof is down on my MR2,
And I\'m grinning, grinning ear to ear!

Thanks for all the comments, especially the link to the 'how to'! Not sure how I missed that....
Having read through it carefully, I think the job may be a bit too difficult for me, so I'm going to see if I can find a suitable garage to do the job.
Thanks again.

Good shout. A how to is not only helpful in taking you through the tasks but also to see if it's something for you.

Good example of that.
A lot easier having it done  s:) :) s:)

before you dive in and a change the clutch. As getting heavy is the observation vs starting to slip.

Have you lubed up all the moving parts and those associated with the gear linkage bits n bobs in the engine compartment.
Recent post on here about the same.

Patrick, Brian and I are going to be attempting this imminently. Blind leading the blind. That kind of thing.
You mentioned on the "How-To" about some pictures for Spyderchat. I can't find them - I'm guessing they were PhotoBucket sourced?

I've ordered the bits mentioned too - we have 2 clutches, MT-90 and a clutch alignment tool.
The 30cm bit of dowelling, what kind of thickness do you recommend?

Hmm... Not sure what pics I meant. Are there pics in my how to that don't work?

The dowel is really just to dull the impact on the drive shaft when you tap it out. So, standard broom handle size or anything of the like

I quote from the "how-to"

Quote from: "shnazzle"Pics to be sourced. I might steal the ones from the Spyderchat how to where applicable. Will give credit of course.

I just wondered if you knew where the pics where or had any other ideas.
Thing is, huge assumption is made that we know where all these bits are!

Found it!
Yeah I never did that haha. I as assuming Spyderchat had pics I could use. I think it has a guide (that me and Ian don't agree with fully), that has some pics.

The location of things are quite decently described (if I say so myself). If you need extra pics, the ol'  m https://www.toyota-tech.eu m  is invaluable. Few quid and you've got the official guide from Toyota (which isn't the most efficient)

Think I will have to get the clutch sorted fairly soon. Does anyone have any recommendations for good garages in the South West who could do the job?
