What is out there that can fit in car to measure acceleration times etc. I know there is the racelogic kit but don't really want to spend £400
Suggestions please

Torque Pro does it.
It's not totally accurate of course. You'd probably get to about 65mph by the time the OBD2 registers 60mph.

There's the blitz iD power meter which are supposedly ok.
Don't think you can buy them new, but they show up from time to time on eBay etc

It basically says that most phone apps are inaccurate due to GPS receiver.
It recommends some software and an upgraded external GPS.
Far cheaper than a vbox.

I use a app for my iPhone call QMT quarter mile time.
I am sure it's not most accurate but for a free app I would not say it's million miles away.

On my naturally aspirated car I get 7sec flat with markiii air intake, K&N panel filter and custom exhaust.
On my turbo'd 2 I can get 4.9seconds.
2000 silver, Red leather seats, A/C.
Mods so far- 2005 Engine, Hankook tyres, Goodridge braided lines, EBC Greenstuff, Matt Performance brace, FL front brace, Yellowspeed coilovers, Custom quad exhaust + toyo manifold, markiii pipe, K&N Panel filter, TRD side skirts, rear spats, rear spoiler.

2006 Silver SP240 Turbo, red & black seats & red/black steering wheel, hardtop, ac, Halo DRL/Fog lights,

Sorry to burst the bubble... but take it from someone who did drag racing for quite a few years:

For a quarter mile??  A top Alcohol Dragster would struggle to do a 4.9

It's not a 'million miles' away, it's light years.

A street Ferrari won't do any better than 13 secs.

I doubt that my Rocket Car could get into the fours and that's got 3,000 lbs thrust.

The times I put up earlier were for a 0-60mph time.

If only there was a place one could go, and get accurate measurement of speed and time over an accurately measured distance, to help quantify the real world performance of a car.

Very funny.
North Weald is closest but they only have about 3 dates a year.
Santa Pod or Shakespeare Raceway are a bit of a long haul for a south London boy.

Yeah. It is a shame about North weald. I heard a rumour that the council/locals want to close it completely.

They built flats or something close to the airfield.
They want no car related activities there at all.
Car limits has to impose stupid noise limits and then you are deafened by some Cessna taking off.
Why move next to an air field that's been there since WW2 and then moan about noise.

Been out all day but managed to do one run with it. Crap start by me, clutch slipping in first. Car with headcase now for the week for new fuel pump and other bits to be done

Anyone know of a "venue" that a meet up could take place at for some timed sessions?
