I'm picking up an 04 2 on Tuesday which has leather seats.  It's a pre-registered car with only 64 miles on it but there is already 2 small scratches in the leather which is supposed to be rectified tomorrow when "the leatherman" visits the dealership   s:roll:  s:roll:

Anyway, I wondered if the leather is normally hard wearing or is it prone to rips and bad scratches?  Should I avoid wearing anything with metal studs on (maybe a gimp suit lol)?
Official - old git alert. 42 years old!
Facts  are meaningless - they can be used to prove anything.

The gimp suit should be fine... ermm....  s:roll:  s:roll:
I have jumped in and out of mine for the best part of ten months with dirty jeans (complete with studs) and have found the seats show no real signs of wear.
I wipe mine over with a cloth every once in a while, and treat the seats to a dollop of leather conditioner every few months. This helps keep the leather supple and stop it drying out, especially useful as the open top nature of the '2 exposes the seats to more sunlight and air than a normal car.

likewise, i haven't found any problems with my leather seats scratching (he says touching wood!!).  They do crease up quite a bit, as my passenger seat is almost like new, but not too bad considering I suppose!!    s:wink:  s:wink:
