Had unfortunate day. Just after a right turn went to accelerate and MR decided to swap ends in a slow pirouette.

Nearside rear hit the kerb and snapped the casting of the axle carrier allowing the wheel to fold under the car. Obviously made a mess of the No 1 lower suspension arm and left the wheel resting under the, now rather bent, strut rod. It also split the drive shaft.

Amazingly other than the damage local to the wheel everything else, from a quick visual, looks ok.

Couple of questions. Firstly is there anything else I should be looking for and secondly do the hub, suspension arms and drive shaft differ between years. (Its a 2004)

Luckily no-one hurt, other than my MR2 and pride and I really can't fault the AA for the recovery either.

Really hard to tell but your list of potential damaged suspects:
- bent subframe
- bent strut
- twisted top mount
- all rear arms suspicious
...neutiquam erro.

Sorry to hear this but glad no injuries. These cars don't take a lot to spin and a heavy foot can get you into all sorts of trouble especially if the car was not quite straight before the power goes on.  Also, there could've been diesel on the surface, when there's not much you can do!

Anyway, glad your ok.
Ex owners of Chilli red facelift 52 reg called Chilli, silver 55 reg called Foxy and blue pfl W reg MR-S called Sapphire. Now 2 less!

By the by, if your nearside rear strut (and top mount) need replacing, I've just bought a 85k-ish mile set of which I only need the offside rear.
I wouldn't normally recommend replacing one side but it's better than a bent one right?  s:) :) s:)

Thanks all.

Going to try get under and have a better look tomorrow if I can stop crying   s:D :D s:D

Just changed sub-frame and spent ages cleaning, spraying and dynatroling so hope that's ok!

Road was damp and was below some pine trees with a few needles so with a bit too heavy foot was going to happen.

On the flipside, if you do need to change the subframe, you know how to do it and it will take half the time.
As Patrick said, other than the top mount, it's all very fixable relatively cheap.
