Just wondering if their were any thoughts on aftermarket exhausts with no heat shields having a effect on the rotting of the subframe. Just had my nappies off for an oil change, while putting them back on yesterday subframe looks good and solid. Mines a 2004, doesn't look like it has been treated. Seeing the state of some of them, some only a little older, wondered if it was a contributing factor. Mines a standard exhaust at the moment.

Interesting question, 2006 standard exhaust and original subframe for me.

Mine is 2004 with standard exhaust and heatshield, however my subframe was clearly welded up a few years ago due to rust problems.
Silver 2004 MR2 -  Unmodified but very shiny.

My 06 with 55k miles was standard when I bought it.
When it went to Matt Performance to have the turbo fitted he found substantial corrosion.
If it's been kept outside and driven it will rot imho.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
