HY.
I have one question concerning SMT shifting.
I guess that it's not a very good idea to downshift (let's say by mistake) when in high RPM.
I know that you can't shift in uper gear when lets say you are driving too slow and there is also a beeping sound warning you.
Is electronic in SMT preventing you to downshift when you could do some damage?

Sorry for pigeon english.

Yeah the SMT doesn't let you shift down before the revs are OK, it just beeps.

Hammering the down button repeatedly is a good way to get into the right gear on the corners as people who have been to northweald might know.    s:D :D s:D

Corerct - it will protect the engine from over-revving or over-straining

True, but if you drop into the middle of the power-band (4K+ rpm), then lift suddenly you will find that you made a successful downshift, but the car now wants to swap ends because you are still not doing the right thing and staying 'in balance' for the corner.
Fortunately my '03 has nannies fitted, but I came close a couple of times in the old '01  s:roll:  s:roll:
