Take off the hinged lid, 4 screws at the hinges, take off the frunk cover (you'll probably break half the retaining pegs). The spare wheel well is held in with 4 10mm headed screws and the alarm sounder if it's fitted.
If you disconnect the alarm sounder it'll go off faintly for a while as there's a capacitor in it that holds a bit of a charge.
Once all that's removed just give the wheel well a good tug and it should come out, they can be quite stuck sometimes.
Depending on where the spindle has sheared you might be able to turn it out with some grips or probably have to drill it or use an extractor.
While you're in there doing all that you might as well remount the siren on the outside of the wheel well. It makes it louder and then you can flip the spare wheel and create extra space.

thank you I'll give it a go
I'm sure there's a "how to" in the reference section that deals with the alarm mod, if you look for that it'll guide you through.

Did you remove the OBD2 diagnostics? I get cash errors if I leave mine in (flickering ABS) if I start the car with it in.

You might be better off posting this as a separate question in electrical, more chance of someone seeing it as a new post than reading it as an in-thread comment.
You stand more chance of getting an answer that way too.
