My ratchet release button for the handbrake has gone inside the handle. I can still unclick it by sticking my finger in the hole but it's not ideal! How do I take the cowling and handle etc. off and what will I likely need to do to fix it?

Thanks!

You will need to take the console moulding out first. There are 2 screws either side of the console alongside the seat. The tears are easy to remove. The fronts are a little trickier, but more than doable.

Then you will have access to the handbrake handle cover and mechanism.

For what it's worth, a lot of people don't bother putting the front screws back in simply because they are awkward to get to.  Once everything is in place, the rears hold the console well enough.  I've lost count of how many times I've had my consoles out so I definitelydon't put the front screws back in.

Is the ratchet / button stuck or has the handbrake lever cover just slipped forward? Give it a decent shove back first

pretty sure its the button, but I hadn't thought of that- I'll check it before I start removing trim! Thanks.

I only ask because having just fitted another centre console, I was able to remove the cover from the lever fairly easily.

If push comes to shove and you need a new one The lever itself is only held in with two bolts if I remember correctly. You would need to unhook the cable from the equaliser to remove it.
