NEW wrapped dash idea - What do you think?

Was thinking of some interior mods to do a few months back and painting the center console came to mind of course. Instead of doing the center verticle section like usual (Storage cubby, heaters, stereo, etc), I thought why not do it horizontal like some of the newer modern cars? I photoshopped some pics and figured I'd share it with you guys incase you like it and want to do the same. I personally love it and thinks it's awesome and unique.

I'm planning on wrapping it in vinyl instead of painting it, so it's not permenant and easier to do. Originally intended to do it in gloss red but fell in love with satin chrome red. Looks awesome but not too much and distracting if you get what I mean. I've got the vinyl, will be going ahead and doing this sometime soon in next few weeks when I'm free. Will upload pics when I'm done.

What do you think?

That looks just like my BMW 420 with red leather upholstery and (by choosing red) you also get red leather half way up the dashboard.  I like it but others have spoken of my "tarts car" which I take as a compliment due to my optimistic view of life.

I like it - go for it!
Today
2000 x reg pfl - blue - as original no mods
In the late 1980's
1982 x reg Toyota Corolla Liftback Coupe (also blue)
1978 s reg Mitsubishi Celeste Coupe (yellow)

I also wanted as much red on the interior of my silver as I could get.
Like red interior so i does.
Do it.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Just for info, years ago I enquired about interior wrapping for a completely different car at a local company.  I got this reply:

"we don't really recommend wrapping the interior of a car for two reasons, one, in the summer (yes, 1 day late July, one day in August!!!) the heat can build up inside the car, and the vinyl can lift, and two, the shape makes it difficult to heat and stretch the material."

May or may not affect your decision. :)

Topdownman

Well, you've got the vinyl so I guess its going on!

The worst that can happen is it will fall off I guess?

You could perhaps try plastidip if it doesnt work.

I did consider this but shouldn't be a problem  :D

I've wrapped quite a few things in the past and I found that this happens when the area is in direct sunlight constantly and loads of heat has been used to stretch the vinyl around a curved surface... Such as a speedo surround but because this area is very flat, only a small amount of heat, if any, will be required.

Looks great.

Red flock ? That would spray on

Or paint it ?

Just ideas to save on wrap

Or would they both look crap ?

I love that you have thought out of the box with the horizontal feature. :)

I'd be interested to see you efforts. Like @Topdownman says, the worst case is that it falls off.
Best case, you imagination becomes your reality. Sounds like a win to me! ;)

Funny you should mention Speedo suround.  Mine is wrapped with Carbon F type vinyl, its been in the heat & sun (such as there is in UK) for over three years without a problem. hough the surface is flat as opposed to much of the dash which has an uneven texture.

Goodluck with it, and I look forward to the pics!

I think one of Shnazzle's cars has a red-ish interior but I don't think it was vinyl. Looks great whatever material it is.

Yeah it's mine with red and cream dash and steering wheel. I'll see if I can find a picture of it, I can't remember what the stuff is called, it's like a spray on vinyl type thing  (technical term) it's a bit marmite like
