Am I missing something? The motorised aerial on my 2004 roadster recently failed I still have the original radio CD player fitted which I want to retain but li want to fit a simple non retractable aerial I disconnected the wiring for the motorised aerial and its coax cable. I fitted the replacement aerial coax to the original connection below the luggage .box and made sure of good earth contact , but in spite of repeated attempts no joy can you shed any light on this please?

Two questions:
Define non retractable and no joy?
The stubby "bee stings" don't really work that well on these cars, poor reception.
Or just nothing at all?

Simple non motorised aerial with fixed length mast only thing to be heard is what I would describe as white noise....i.e. Constant rushing sound or static

I wonder if the box in the luggage space has an amplifier in it that you have disconnected?  when I rewired mine I ran the coax to the back of the radio and added an in line amplifier for good measure.  Perhaps try feeding the coax direct, even just draped over to see if it works, with small hands you can just about get to the back of the radio without taking it out.

Thankyou very good point, I shall investigate this aspect, an in line amplifier didn't occur to me harry
