New cat needed

I think I need to bite the bullet not too long from now and sort my exhaust out. I barely passed MOT this time and I have an exhaust leak in the flexi since introducing this different cat. Turns out my old one was better! Jdut smelled funny :) haha

So... What to do?
A new Toyota cat is obviously never going to happen as I'm not bloody Rockefeller. Cats2U has lost my vote since Carolyn's started blowing through the flexi after 2 years.

What other options are there?
I was thinking even getting my flexi repaired and having a 200 or 400 cell welded in. Total cost would be about 250. Double the cost of cats2u, but perfect fit guaranteed, open up the exhaust a bit and brand new flexis.

But, how far is 250 from a known good performance cat?

Think I have a standard mid section in my pile of goodies in the garage. Can have a look at condition when I'm home in a few hours if you want. Rest of the car was beautiful condition.

Are the flexis on your old one ok?

If so just get the sports cat welded into that?

Sorry, wasnt sure on how the flexis were on that one you've got on!  :(

That might be a winner if it's in a known decent condition. Know how many miles? Mine was pretty much dead after about 70k.

My old one is long gone so just have the one I got from you. The only thing worth salvaging from that is the actual main cast piping. I'd have to replace flexis and cat and I already had to get the o2 bunghole (hehehe) re-tapped. Basically it's scrap hahaha

I'd have to try and find out for you but I don't thinks it's that old. Most of the bits are gleaming.

Sweet! We'll definitely do a deal if you've got a good one.
Means I can save my pennies for a proper manifold instead

Should have kept them - you know they come in useful some time in the future!

I might have another - again prob scrap - but if you want that to put the new flexis and cat into to keep you on the road, you're welcome to it. I'll check at the weekend and let you know!

I did get 21/2 years out of the Cats2U.

For £120, it's still an option....

I had a 200 cel welded in on the supercharger car and a single flexi - different set-up, of course, but The cat section came to around £200.

Problem with an old original is the flexis will be about done.

Not fancy the Malian one that might or might not need a bit of fiddling to fit?

IIRC, the guy on Facebook may or may not be able to get a discount too.

Didn't somebody on Facebook also just have massive issues getting one of those to fit?

Yeah. It was off by miles. Shocking

I still vote for cats2u. Even as a 2yr service item at £140 it's fine.

I don't really enjoy lying on the drive changing cats :)
I do 10k tops a year. I'd rather not change a cat every 20k miles.

Check out Profusion Exhausts for components.  Decent quality and price.  Add on cost of welding and fabrication.  That will be about as cheap as, for a quality product.

Doesn't necessarily have to be the cheapest solution. Just a good one, for a reasonable price that will last.
I'll have a look at them

The Exhaust Doctor fitted my Cats2U and didn't mention any concerns. Food for thought

That's who I was going to go to to fit new flexis and a 200 cell. You wouldn't notice any concerns about the cats2u. It looks fine.
