Drove car today with the oil filler cap off,  what an idiot,  oil everywhere and hopefully no engine damage.  Top tip don't be stupid.

Very refreshing to hear it's not just me that does "stupid" things whilst trying to be nice to our cars. I've had a good run lately:

1 - Cracked rear light assembly with my thigh whilst leaning in swap out the camshaft sensor (which didn't resolve my problem anyway)  (:< >:)

2 - Threaded the stud on the top of the engine that holds down the plastic coil pack wiring cover thingy-me-bob  :withstupid:

3 - Broke the plastic fasteners that hold the engine cover on, I was really gentle with them but they just crumbled  (:< >:)

Been there done that but Tom was present at the time so it was all his fault.
Not on the 2 I hasten to add.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

lol, let me elaborate.

When I was young and clueless I topped up the oil in my old knackererd Mk1 Astra. Left the oil cap on top of the rocker cover and drove off to the local petrol station. While rounding a roundabout I heard a little 'Thunk' - didn't think anything of it until I got to the petrol station. Oil dripping everywhere, popped the bonnet and then realised what the little thunk was - oil cap falling off the engine onto the road, never to be found again

Pushed the car to the parking spaces in said petrol station, got a lift to the local scrappers and nabbed an oil filler cap to replace the lost one

Note to self - always place the oil filler cap on the bonnet latch mech - can't close the bonnet if the cap is in the way!!!
