Remove the other screw. Being sure not to round it off by forcing the bit in there whilst turning it. Its the 27 size you need by the way.

Once the screw is out, apply a bit of torque to the other screw with your torx drive, whilst turning the plate around the screw. It  should have a few degrees of movement available, and it should be all you need to get it started.

What you need is a dremel.

You can then use it to cut a slot into the head and remove it with a flat bladed screwdriver. Once thats done you can replace the screws with something a little more convienient.

Bummer.  And FWIW I've not got a dremel either...... but, if I had to go buy one (like it sounds like you'll be doing), I'd be quite happy, 'cause I'm sure you'll find lots of uses for it.

yeah i'd better find enough uses for it, it's going to cost enough  s:( :( s:(

Ooer missus..

Stu - FWIW I bought a B&Q own brand 'dremel' for about £30 a while back, it's lasted well and seen some good service too.. vibrates a little (as it's off-balance, and the proper Dremel I've used didn't) but works just fine  s:) :) s:)

You'd be amazed how useful it'll be..

Are you sure about size 27, I used size 25 and they both came out no worries - the driver bit never even felt like it was goig to cam out and chew up the screw. Heath said that he used the 25 bit as well (not being picky, just trying to help anyone else that attempts this)  s:wink:  s:wink:

Yup, pretty sure... Used the 27 on 2 seperate cars...

25 for me, I'm afraid. Did try 27, but it never felt as though it was fully seated. But the screws were'nt that tightly in anyway, so if it was a bit small no damage was done.

Recommend that whenever you have a problem screw or bolt, especially i the smaller sizes, you change them to a cap / socket head screw.  That way you (almost) never have to worry about a screwdriver slipping out of the screw's face and returning to the original problem.  Get yourself a good set of Bondus drivers and you'll be set for a long time.
