Brake Caliper Back Plates

Just had an MOT on my trusty 02 PFL and only thing was advisory on 'all brake caliper dust covers corroded'. Looks like a straight forward job to replace - whip the calipers off, remove old back plates, replace with new ones, then bolt the calipers back on.  Does anyone know anyplace to buy the new ones, or I am gonna have to go to Toyota dealer for them?

Unnecessary expense & faff in my opinion, just rip/grind the old ones off & be done

They're bolted behind the hubs so quite a big job to replace.

As above. just remove as necessary.

Pretty sure you can get them from TCB parts if you really want them  but quite pricy iirc.

It's a much bigger job than it first appears to replace the fronts.

I didn't even need an angle grinder to remove though - just pulled really hard and they came off like they were cardboard!  Most people find the same.

The rears are usually a bit more held together, and I wirebrushed my old ones and painted them insitu with primer then rustoleum, to give them a couple more years.

Replaced all mine a cpuple of years ago, and to be honest sourced from Mr T I dont recall them as being expensive. I did paint them all with a couple of coats of marine 2 pack before fitting as the standard paint seems thin.

Another +6yr update.

The rear heatshields have lasted a futher 6yrs after the above treatment. No idea how as they were far from perfect!

(I've left the fronts off through this time, and when the rears do go, I'll probably leave them off too)

The front dust shields perished and broke off my 530d this year. The garage just pulled them both off at the MOT and haven't replaced them.
