Frunk Storage Bin Lid - Rubber Seal

I spotted that the rubber seal which sits in a groove on the frunk bin lid was hanging loose, so set about re-seating it in its groove.  Anyway, whichever way I did it the rubber seal seems too short for the job.  Its a single ring but always pops out of one corner when stretched into the others.

Is there a way round this, should it be glued down?  Or should I cut it and fix then find another piece of rubber for the small section that will be left.

Any advice from anyone who has done this before would be great.

Thanks

Weirdly I can't ever remember seeing a rubber seal on mine but I guess you could try using a hairdryer and heating it up slightly.

Don't hold the hairdryer too close or use it for too long as it'll start to shrivel and stuff.
