Scraping sound when accelerating

Looking for suggestions... getting a scraping metallic sound when accelerating from lowish speeds on the nearside wheel. Using my Google-fu this suggested that the plate around the back of the disc could be catching the disc itself or there could be a stone.

I've pushed back the plate as far as I can and I've checked for stones - doesn't appear to be anything there. Car seems fine otherwise. Any other suggestions? Currently sat on the drive with the wheel off.

EDIT: It's on the rear nearside.

I love a challenge but unfortunately I'm drawing with and  inkless pen here.

Does it happen from standstill?
It might actually be the very shrill sound of cat heat shield rattle.
...neutiquam erro.

Not from stand still, just seems to happen at low levels of acceleration. I was starting to think it was when the car is vibrating at a certain frequency...? I did a test run after moving the plate around the disc and it seemed to improve then came back. Just before the light faded I took a pair of pliers to this plate and really bent it back so depending on if I take the bike or the car I can test it tomorrow. It is an odd one though...

Pad wear indicator scraping on the disc?

Are you sure the arch liner or undertray hasn't come loose?

Happened to mine and thought it was brakes or something aswell as it made a weird noise.

Okay so I've tested it this evening having pulled back the plate again from behind the disc and it seems to have done the trick... what I find strange is that this has never happened before and I've not been messing with it. I was under the impression this part shouldn't move. I'll be monitoring it to see if it comes back in case it is something else.

The liner/undertray all seems good. The undertray can't budge at the moment as I zip tied it up good last time I was properly under the car. The original sound was very metallic though so doubt the undertray would have caused that?
