O2 sensor removal - cables

OK, slightly different request.  I can loosen the LHS sensor to be able to remove it.  What I can't work out is how to disconnect the cable from the sensor to the car.  

I'm assuming I need to unclip the grey plastic connector - but how?

Do the RHS sensor first as it's easier, cause you can see the connector clip. On the RHS it's on top of the connector, just press it down and pull it off. On the LHS connector it's on the lower side of the connector and you can't really see what you're doing.
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

I'll see if I can loosen the RHS.

Which is a pity because Toyota had removed the LHS before so that's why I managed to loosen it again easily this time.

You can always just open the RHS connector, even if you don't get the sensor off  s;) ;) s;)  Once you see how it unplugs, the other should be easier.
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

Thanks, did the RHS side OK, and managed to unclip the LHS as well once I knew how the clip worked.

Removed the LHS but it took me ages to get back in   s:( :( s:(  .

I was beginning to think the end of the plug had been rounded to stop it fitting in to the hole.

Eventually got it back on.  s:) :) s:)  

Tricky little things aren't they?

The RHS side plug had quite a lot of debris on it - at the top of the plug, just below the washer.  The LHS was clean.  Toyota had removed that one a few months ago so they might have cleaned it.

Should I expect this debris on the plug?

Good to see that you managed to disconnect the cable connectors okay. I don't know whether you've taken the sensors out of the manifold yet, but do take great care as the threads can bind quite easily.
Got mine out yesterday and the thread on the right hand sensor was destroyed. Had to have an insert put in the manifold and buy a replacement sensor, very expensive!!

Yeah, it's pretty easy to kill the threads. I always put them back on by hand, that way you'll feel if it's going in nicely or is it about to kill the threads.
