Greenlight Insurance, my experience.

I finally got through.  The first time I got through, they said it was too early to give me a quote and they'd call me in a week's time.

They didn't call.  I left a message by email asking them to call.  They didn't.

I called them and was on hold for too long on an 'I'm paying for this' number, so I hung up.

Tried again this afternoon and got through.

I wanted an agreed value policy, but as it didn't have horsepower mods (but loads of TRD kit) they couldn't do agreed value.  They did agree to cover the replacement cost of the special kit I listed.  They guy said 'We would get you a TRD front bumper, for instance'.  I'll believe that when I see it.

Anyway I listed all the kit including new soft-top and hard-top and special gearbox, so it's all on the record.  Somehow I'd be surprised if I got close to the value if the car was nicked....

Anyway, it was only £45 more than my Churchill policy that would only have paid market value (£1500 at most)... so I've gone for it.

Footman James wanted £500 for similar cover.

A bit worrying that their communication was  so poor.   Well see.

I switched to Sky insurance, got fed up of having to proof read the Greenlight docs as they always got something wrong on it.

I see what you mean. Got the schedule through.  No mention of hard-top or factory JDM gearbox with LSD.

I've pointed these things out.....

Hmmm  paid already!!!

Well, at first they asked for a picture of the Proposal page from my present insurer to prove no claims, which I have sent.  Now I get an email saying they want a better pic plus a pic of the cover letter (not mentioned before).

No response to my requests for amendments to the schedule.

Unimpressed.

Not due to start cover for over a week.  Might just cancel.  I'll see how they do tomorrow.

Only time I've had problems with greenlight is when cancelling half way through policy (sold the car) having paid all up front they sting you with fees.  Fees that they don't mention in any documentation.

I would recommend if keeping the car for full policy.

If it helps, when Helen's car was crashed into, the underwriter didn't even have the list of mods. Nor did they care.

With my greenlight policy I believe any mods are covered aslong as I don't go above 300bhp.
That's with an agreed valuation.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I tried Greenlight, but could not get an agreed valuation as no increase in HP, but got a quote of £370 for mods fitted.

The quote I got from my present company was £170 with mods, and told to hang on to receipts of mods in case I need to make a claim. In effect, I paid nothing extra for my modifications as my insurance did not increase at renewal.  :D

@moredun- Would you like to share the name of this benevolent insurance company ?

After a third day of sending pictures of documents, it now appears they have a problem with my 9 years' no claims bonus - as there is some confusion between my Husband and I on our policies with Churchill. which was explained to the agent in the initial call,.....

A mess, a waste of my time.

I have cancelled the deal, and they have agreed to refund me in full.

That's good news for me, my SAGA policy is due for renewal in January, maybe they won't hike my premium.

@Carolyn, just maybe you could try this exclusive (seemingly benevolent) company also.
From my initial experience with them the ON LINE price is better than if you telephone.
