Decided to change the power steering fluid its the original oil that's been in 17 years now, by sucking a much out as possible with a syringe & adding more. Wanted to use the same oil so went to Toyota dealer, they sold me 2ltrs of Automatic Transmission Fluid WS £15.10 ( part number T08886-81210 )! Is this the correct stuff ? The parts guy assured me it is but I have my doubts after looking at the threads on this forum.

Bloody dealers!  That's why I never trust a dealer service history.

It's special stuff.

Toyota do their own (expensive and hard to get).

A lot of us use Ravenol E-PSF.  No bad reports.

Thanks for such a prompt reply! Will the revenol oil be ok with the original oil as I don't intend doing a complete oil change in case a disturbed union breaks off or doesn't re-seal?

Carolyn

If you follow the 'how to', you can flush most of the old oil out.  There'll still be some in there, but everyone who's done it that way has had no probs.

Nissan E-PSF Electric Power Steering Fluid is also a good alternative and has been used by a number of MR2 owners in the US.

Took the incorrect ATF back to the dealers, parts guy & technician still saying "ATF would have done the Job"!
But they did find the correct Electro Hydraulic Oil Part number 08886-81250 £35ish for 2ltrs with discount but need to order from warehouse.
Couldn't find a how on this site but did find a you tube video of a cockney geezer changing his mr2's power "stearing" fluid on line it looks reasonably easy, plan to do it when its a bit/lot warmer.
Thanks for all the help!
