Call the midlife!

According to the table of screw sizes that accompany the diagram, screw D should be 30mm long.
But the two 30mm long screws I'm confident came out of the original are too long and don't nip up.
So either the schematic is wrong, the new Toyota waterpump is slightly thinner in the body than the old one or there's something fouling behind the holes (which I doubt because one of them just goes into the flange on the block).
By the time I'd  bodged it with some temporary screws and nuts before the seal went off it was too late to dig the original pump out and measure the thickness.

When I fitted my new water pump to the engine I rebuilt a few months ago, the pump flange thickness was different from the original. It looked like they'd tried to change the flange thickness so all the bolt lengths were the same. It was a bit of a pita.

But ironically the others are 35mm and torqued up nicely.!
If I'm not alone in this issue I'll just have to see what I've got available to fettle it, I'm loathe to have odd looking screw heads against the others.
I could possibly cut a couple of the 35s down and swap them out for the 30s..
